Week 25 Bumpdate

How far along: 25 weeks (Only 15 weeks to go, 13 if I am lucky like my sister and go into labor at 38 weeks)

Baby size: 9 in / 1.7 lbs (estimate using the What to Expect App)

Maternity clothes: Yes

Stretch marks: None

Sleep: I've been getting more and more uncomfortable and my back always hurts in the morning!

Gender: Boy

Movement: He's been pretty active. I had my kindle on my stomach one evening and you could see it move when he kicked. This is supposed to be his most active time during pregnancy. He's packing on the pounds and will have less room to move as the weeks go by.

Best moment this week: At my doctor's appointment Friday I learned that I've only gained 11 pounds overall and 0 pounds since the last appointment a month ago!!!! I was worried I had gained like 20 pounds already. Also, we officially became members at Peachtree Presbyterian on Sunday. I'm excited to have such a great community to bring Pumpkin up in and give him a solid faith foundation.

Looking forward to: Our 3 year anniversary is this Thursday, July 3rd, followed by the fourth of July holiday weekend. I am so blessed to have such an amazing supportive husband and Pumpkin is really lucky to have him as his dad. Here are some throwback photos from our wedding day in honor of our anniversary.....

Food Cravings: Ice Cream/ Frozen Yogurt

Anything making you queasy or sick: I had a little "episode" this weekend after eating a hamburger. It's weird because I didn't get sick at all during the first trimester but I have had 2 "episodes" after dinner during my second trimester. I don't know if it's what I ate or if it would have happened anyways... but I probably won't be eating anymore hamburgers until after Pumpkin is born.

What I miss: Sleeping comfortably.

Nursery: WE GOT THE CRIB and put it together already. I love it! I've already put all the bedding on. The room is really starting to look complete now. My next project is to figure out what I want to do on the wall above the crib. We also might need to move things around in the room so there is more room for the bookcase my dad is building. We'll just have to play around with it and see.

Belly button in or out:? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Workouts: I've still been doing okay... not as much as I would like. Walking in the neighborhood is no longer an option because of a drive by shooting incident that happened to my neighbors on Tuesday (no one is hurt) but it is still scary. I was out walking when it happened and saw the gunman drive by me several times which makes the whole situation even scarier to me. So I will probably stick to doing my workout video and doing the elliptical at the gym for a while.

What's going on with baby: The nervous system is rapidly developing this week. He can hear loud noises and may even get startled and jump at a loud noise. He also knows which way is up and which way is down.

Until next time....

Nursery Update

I finally got around to hanging the pictures over the changing table and installing the curtain holdbacks. So 1/2 of the room is pretty much done.

I love the way the holdbacks give the curtains some shape rather than just having them hang there (see before picture below). Also, they allow more light to come in during the day.

Before

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures I selected to go around the Dr. Seuss print. I think they are so cool! I got them off of Etsy from THEDAISYFIELDS. All of the paintings are reproductions of watercolors painted by the shop owner and I was able to customize the colors to match my nursery.

I've also been making some personalized burp clothes and outfits for Pumpkin. Of course I taped paper over the ones that have his name on them :) He is going to be decked out in personalized stuff for every Georgia and Michigan football game and holiday!

Until next time....

Week 24 Bumpdate

How far along: 24 weeks... That's right people... we are at 6 MONTHS!!!

Baby size: 8.5 in / 1.5 lbs (estimate using the What to Expect App)

Maternity clothes: Yes

Stretch marks: Still none

Sleep: I've been sleeping better this week. Still taking 1 or 2 trips to the bathroom each night. But no episodes of getting up at 4 am like I had last week.

Gender: Boy

Movement: I think he's training to be an acrobat... it's like he's doing somersaults in there. He's still kicking a lot as well. His most active times tend to be first thing in the morning and just before bed.

Best moment this week: We tried a new dog friendly burger place that just opened up in the neighborhood on Sunday (Lucky's). The burgers and fries were DELICIOUS and the atmosphere was really cool (maybe because the world cup was on while we were there). Also, a lady brought her son over who was 1 and 1/2 and asked if he could pet Rex. He loved Rex. She said her son is obsessed with big dogs. It was so cute he was giving Rex hugs and you could tell Rex was nervous about the whole situation, but he just took it like a champ :) He has no idea that we are about to get one of those little people and he's going to have to live with it everyday. I think he's going to be a good big brother!

Looking forward to: The crib is supposed to be delivered TODAY!!! Also, looking forward to Pumpkin's 1st shower August 2nd (invitations went out yesterday). It's getting real!

Food Cravings: Sweets

Anything making you queasy or sick: No

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach!

Nursery: Like I said, the crib is coming TODAY. I think we will put it together this weekend... or maybe before then if I can't resist the urge. I also hung pictures on the wall over the changing table (see my nursery update post).

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Workouts: I've been doing okay in this area. I was good during the week but didn't really get any workouts in this weekend. However, I was on my feet working all day Saturday... so I think that should count.

What's going on with baby: I wanted to add this section because I think it's interesting. This week marks a MAJOR milestone in Pumpkin's development. This is the first week that if he were born prematurely, he has a good chance of surviving. His lungs and other organs have developed enough that they could work outside the womb! Like every mother,  the terrible thought of miscarriage has been in the back of my mind... so reaching this milestone is a BIG weight off my shoulders.

Until next time....

Week 23 Bumpdate

How far along: 23 weeks

Baby size: 8 inches / 1.2 lbs (estimate using the What to Expect App)

Maternity clothes: Exclusively

Stretch marks: None yet (and hopefully never!)

Sleep: This hasn't been going so well lately. I am having trouble getting comfortable. On Friday night and Saturday night I woke up starving at 4 am and had to eat something. On Friday I was able to get back to sleep but on Saturday night I couldn't so I got up and did some cleaning and laundry at 4 am!

Gender: He's still a boy

Movement: I have days where he moves a lot and days where he doesn't. Today is a high movement day (he is actually kicking me as I type this). He likes to kick me around 5:00 when I am still sitting at work... maybe he is telling me it's time to go home, first thing in the morning when I'm still in bed and when I get in bed at night.

Best moment this week: Buying our new Mazda CX-9! It was hard to sell my Civic since it was my first car that I bought all by myself... I was emotionally attached to it, but I really like the new SUV. It seats 7, has lots of room (for all that stuff that comes with a baby) and has a lot more "bells and whistles" than I had in the Civic.  Also, we can have Pumpkin and Rex in the car at the same time. With the Civic Rex would have been all over Pumpkin in the back seat. I think it's going to be a great family car!
Bye car!!!

Hello SUV!

Looking forward to: Going on a family trip in the Mazda :)

Food cravings: Still loving watermelon.

Anything making you queasy or sick: There were a few days this week when I absolutely didn't want to eat meat.

What I miss: Wine

Symptoms: Little kicks, sleepless nights and a big itchy belly (I read that it's normal for your belly to itch as your skin is stretching out).

Nursery: The crib mattress arrived this week. It's just sitting in the nursery waiting for the crib to get here. The prints I ordered to go around the Dr. Seuss print arrived. I have them framed... just need to hang them. It's going to be a beast of a project getting all the spacing even between all the frames!

Belly button in or out? Still in!

Wedding rings on or off? Still on... I wonder if I'm going to be able to keep it on through the whole pregnancy because its not even tight yet!

Workouts: Still walking/doing the elliptical. I didn't do my video this week.

Until next time...

Week 22 Bumpdate

How far along: 22 weeks

Baby size: 10.5 to 11.8 inches, 12.7 to 20.8 oz

Maternity clothes: Yes

Stretch marks: None yet

Sleep: I've been sleeping pretty well. I am trying to sleep on my side (because that's what they say you are supposed to do) but keep waking up on my back! Still getting up to go to the bathroom 1-2 times a night.

Gender: It's a Boy!

Movement: I feel his little kicks a lot. I'm starting to get used to it.

Best moment this week: Having lunch with my mom and Pat (long-time family friend) on Saturday and showing them the nursery.

Looking forward to:We went to the Buckhead Farmers Market this weekend which was packed with fresh food and strollers! I can't wait to take Pumpkin next year :)

Food cravings: I can't get enough WATERMELON!

Anything making you queasy or sick: No

What I miss: Wine and turkey sandwiches.

Symptoms: My big belly

Nursery: The crib and crib mattress have been ordered (a generous gift from Rich's parents)! We got the Kendall Low-Profile crib in white from Pottery Barn Kids. The "low profile" version of the crib is supposed to make it easier for short moms like me to get the baby in and out of the crib. It's backordered for a month, but I will post pictures as soon as we get it and put it together!

Belly Button in or out? Still in, but I think I'm going to have an outtie in a few weeks.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Restless... I've been doing a lot of "nesting." I did a pretty thorough cleaning of the house this week and made a list of house projects (cleaning out cabinets and closets etc). I would like to have done before the baby arrives.

Workouts: I took a run with Rex this week and got to a point where I've decided it's too hard and all the huffing and puffing is probably not good for the baby. So I will probably stick to walking/the elliptical for the duration of the pregnancy. I am currently signed up to do the Peachtree Road Race. I will probably do a combination of running and walking for that.

Until next time...

Nursery In Progress.....

This is Pumpkin's nursery so far....

Before I knew Pumpkin was a boy, I knew I wanted grey and white to be the main nursery colors. I love white furniture for children and I feel like grey is really "in" right now. If Pumpkin had been a girl I would have accented with sweet light shades of pink. My plan was if Pumpkin was a boy I was going to accent with yellow. However, once we found out he was a boy and I started looking at bedding, I was really drawn to light blue. So the colors of the room are grey, white and light blue...

I searched far and wide for the perfect baby boy bedding. I didn't want something that screamed baby (i.e. bedding sets that have animals all over them or Disney themed) and I didn't want something too busy since I already have an ikat print on the curtains. I found the perfect set at Carousel Designs. I like how it's simple with the exception of the crib skirt so it doesn't fight the design on the curtains too much. I also like that the crib skirt has the chevron design instead of the bumper, since I will have to take the bumper off until Pumpkin is a little older. I also think the design would work for a girl as well if we have a baby girl someday and want to reuse it. I can't wait to get the crib and mattress so we can put the bedding on and see how it looks with the rest of the room!

We found the glider on Costco's website, but didn't end up purchasing it from Costco because they were out of stock when we went to purchase it. It's a Dawson recliner/glider. I really liked the look of the gliders at Pottery Barn, but none of them reclined and they were all more than twice the price we paid for the Dawson recliner/glider. I liked the idea of having a recliner because I can see myself being worried to leave the room at first and sleeping in the chair! We don't plan on using a bassinet, so Pumpkin will be sleeping in his crib from day 1. A recliner was also ideal since we don't have a lot of room for an additional ottoman piece. It's super comfortable and I know we are going to be spending a lot of time in it!

The "changing table" is a dresser from Ikea. I love the look of it and all the additional storage space you get using a dresser compared to having a traditional changing table. The changing pad I purchased screws into the back of the dresser to keep it secure. I plan on getting a lamp for the other end of the dresser (close to the chair).

I made the curtains before I was even pregnant. I was in need of a project around Christmas and come across this fabric that I loved! I sewed blackout fabric on the back to block out the light for nap time.

The large Dr. Seuss print is going to be on the wall centered over the changing table. I purchased the print from Etsy to coordinate with the bedding. The frame I put it in is made of bead board and was purchased from Michael's. I am currently on the hunt to find something to go on either side of the frame. Maybe some additional Dr. Seuss quotes? The wooden sign (a gift from Rich's aunt and uncle) and picture frame will go on the custom bookcase my dad is building for the room.

So that's the nursery so far.... I have 18 more weeks to pull it all together, although I would like to have it ready in more like 14 weeks in case Pumpkin decides to make an early appearance! I will post more updates as I make progress.

Until next time...

Week 21 Bumpdate

How far along: 21 weeks

Baby Size: 10.5 inches, 12.7 oz

Maternity clothes: Yes!

Stretch marks: Nope!

Sleep: Rex (our 80 lb golden retriever) sleeps in our queen sized bed with us. This was already uncomfortable, but I have found as the weeks go by it's getting even more uncomfortable. It's only a matter of time before Rex is going to get kicked out of bed!

Gender: Boy!

Movement: I feel him every once in a while. I get worried when I don’t feel him for a while, but our doctor said at this point his movements that I feel will be sporadic.

Best moment this week: Going to the doctor and having our 20 week ultrasound! All of his measurements looked healthy. Also, getting my hair cut… I was due for one!

Looking forward to: We are going to get a bigger “family car.” We went out and test drove some this weekend. I am excited about someday looking in my mirror and seeing Pumpkin in his car seat.

Food cravings: Watermelon

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Labor Signs: Will start answering this after 34 weeks.

What I miss: Publix Deli turkey sandwiches

Symptoms: My growing belly and shortness of breath when going up the stairs!

Nursery: I purchased a sweet picture frame this week to put one of the pictures from Pumpkin’s newborn photo shoot (booked last week) in.

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Anxious

Workouts: I’ve been doing my video and running/walking and doing the elliptical.

Until next time...
